If we're shooting in a studio — either mine, or one set up at your office — here's how the day typically goes.
We'll usually start with a coffee and a chat. This is a good moment to talk through any reference images you've seen and liked, so I understand the look you're after before we start shooting.
Once we get going, I'll take a few shots from your left side and a few from your right. Almost everyone photographs slightly better from one side, even if they've never noticed it themselves. Once we've worked out which side suits you best, we build the rest of the session around that — meaning every subsequent shot benefits from what we've just learned.
Getting Ready
A few simple things help the day run smoothly:
Get a haircut in the days before, not the morning of
Bring makeup with you if you'd like to touch up during the session
Wear something that makes you feel comfortable and confident — not just what you think you "should" wear
The studio setup gives us full control over lighting and background, which is ideal if you want a clean, consistent, polished result — particularly for headshots that need to match across a whole team.
